Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the third party that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so that we can respond. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may automatically receive these technical details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They help measure site use, including popular pages and points where visits end. Analytics providers may combine this activity into aggregate traffic reports. A browser can be configured to block cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Sending a search request to the selected partner
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Operating the site and improving load performance
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
We neither host nor sell a database of court dockets or personal case information. Cowlitz County case files remain with their courts and fall under Washington General Rule 31 and related court rules. Court administrative records are governed by General Rule 31.1. Agency records may instead be addressed under chapter 42.56 RCW, but that process does not replace a clerk's case-file request. This website publishes routing information only, is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and does not assemble visitor information into consumer reports.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider determines its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to court-clerk pages, court portals, Washington case-search systems, legal-aid resources, and private search tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may follow activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be disclosed to:
- Search providers that process submitted queries
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that serve ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a person's location and the service involved. Washington privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional protections. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data we retain
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion of personal data
- Opt out of certain processing where the law permits
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. Any new version will appear here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
